Carvers Recreation Ground
New Enclosure was appointed to produce a landscape masterplan to reimagine Carvers Recreation Ground in Ringwood.
The work took the meaning of landscape in its broadest sense. It was not just about shaping landform and planting on the land. Rather, how a positive vision for the recreation ground could be composed that considered the diverse human and natural influences that feature at the recreation ground, in Ringwood, and the surrounding Avon Valley landscape. The overall purpose of the masterplan was to ensure the development of the recreation is coherent, attainable, and pertinent to the needs of the community which it serves.
Working closely with Ringwood Town Council and the community of Ringwood, the development of the masterplan was a multi stage process that featured town councillor consultation meetings, site visits and discussions around concept sketch designs that culminated in a public consultation. New Enclosure’s central aim was to make clear how the recreation ground could mature and maximise its potential as a valued open space. This included proposals for the Clubhouse, the resolution of parking and access, the development of the recreational offering, and how nature could be amplified on site through an extensive programme of tree planting, meadow creation, and a framework for a holistic approach to maintenance.
New Enclosure’s work is now being used as a central component in supporting the securing of funding to realise the proposals on the ground.
